B4OS 2025/26 - What you need to know

Hey developer! Before joining this adventure, we want you to know exactly what to expect from the B4OS program.

No confusing fine print - here's everything clear and straightforward.

What this is about

B4OS is a program designed for experienced devs who want to contribute to the Bitcoin, Lightning and Nostr ecosystem.

If you register, it means you unconditionally accept everything that follows.

Can I participate?

The process: We evaluate your application, your skills in the code challenges, and some internal criteria. Simple.

Who is this for? We're looking for senior developers or those with enough experience to make real contributions to open source projects.

We reserve the right to decide who gets in (nothing personal, we just want the best fit for everyone).

How the program works

Phase 1: Code Challenges

  • Period defined by us
  • Code exercises to showcase your skills
  • All asynchronous in GitHub Classroom
  • Communication through Discord

Phase 2: Portfolio + FOSS Contributions

If you pass the challenges, you enter the good phase:

  • Actively contribute to open source projects (Bitcoin Core, Lightning Network, or Nostr)
  • Participate in group sessions and talks with guests
  • Communicate regularly with mentors and the team

The tools we will use

  • Discord: For everything - support, community, questions
  • GitHub Classroom: For submitting and reviewing code
  • LMS Platform: For materials and resources

About code and intellectual property

Your code: Everything you contribute to FOSS projects follows the licenses of those projects. It's yours, we don't claim anything.

Our content: The educational materials we provide are under Open Source licenses unless we tell you otherwise. Use them to learn during the program. Please do not publish the code challenges or results, these challenges take a lot of work and we ask you not to share them, please.

Code of conduct (aka "don't be toxic")

Remain professional and respectful in Discord, online sessions and events. Zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination or toxic behaviors.

About scholarships and in-person residency

Realistic expectations: The program does not guarantee scholarships or invitation to the residency. That depends on how you perform during the program.

We work with clear criteria that we will communicate to you in a timely manner.

Your data

We need your data to manage the program. We process it according to our good privacy policies and respective laws.

We never share it with third parties without your permission.

Communications

By joining, you agree to receive updates about the program and the B4OS ecosystem: event invitations, new programs, relevant news.

You can cancel this anytime.

Changes to these terms

To improve or adapt the program, we may update these terms when necessary. Changes are published on the program website. It is your responsibility to keep them in mind and stay up to date.
